Project brief
National retailer of tiles sought to enhance the safety and versatility of their warehouse by updating their existing pallet racking system. They enlisted the expertise of Stamina Storage Systems for this project. Initially, they contacted Stamina Storage Systems to supply and install rack protection on every pallet racking upright. Stamina’s solution involved their innovative 500mm Protect-It XL rack protection guards, specifically designed to withstand both front and side impacts, thereby reducing damage from materials handling equipment such as forklifts.
Following the successful installation of the rack protection guards, Stamina Storage Systems was contracted to install mesh decks. This involved integrating 16,000 high-quality 925mm x 1100mm mesh decks into the existing pallet racking system. This upgrade not only allowed for the flexible storage of various pallet sizes but also significantly enhanced overall safety measures.
The challenge
The client faced the challenge of accommodating a wide range of pallet sizes. To address this, Stamina Storage Systems engaged in meticulous design and rigorous testing of the mesh decks. This ensured compatibility with standard Euro pallets as well as a customised size measuring 780mm x 900mm, capable of bearing loads up to 800kg. Standard mesh decking typically assumes that the load is supported by the beams and is not designed for unusually sized pallets. Given Topps Tiles' numerous different-sized pallets, Stamina conducted tests to cover every potential eventuality.
The results
Through comprehensive testing, Stamina Storage Systems effectively met the clients' diverse pallet size needs, ensuring maximum safety. The implementation was a resounding success. Stamina Storage Systems delivered two solutions that not only enhanced the safety of the pallet racking system but also bolstered the security of the goods stored within it.
