Bond It is a manufacturer of building chemicals for the building trade and home improvement sector, selling a range of products including sealants, adhesives and grouts. They enlisted the expertise of Stamina Storage Systems to help improve their warehouse efficiencies.
The challenge
Bond It were moving into a new warehouse and needed an efficient storage solution to maximise their space. They required over 4000 pallet spaces and wanted to move as soon as possible. The company chose our services due to our competitive lead time, the future-proof nature of our racking system, and our reputation for high-quality racking solutions.
The solution
Stamina’s project team did an initial site visit to the new warehouse. During this visit, they took measurements and checked the dimensions of the warehouse. These measurements were crucial for creating accurate drawings and designing a layout that would meet the client's requirements, as well as fully optimise all the available space.After the site visit, a detailed CAD drawings of the racking was done based on the measurements taken. These drawings were submitted to the client for review. The client then used these drawings to develop a final layout, which they sent back to us. Based on this final layout, we provided a competitive price and secured the project. The client had also considered other competitors, however our ability to meet the client's tight timeline and provide a future-proof racking solution were key factors in winning the job. The client needed to move into the new warehouse as soon as possible. Our ability to deliver quickly was a significant advantage, thanks to the large qualities of racking we had in stock. Additionally, our, project team were able to assure the client that our heavy-duty racking could be easily modified in the future without replacing major components should they want to remove the picking bays, adding to the system's long-term value.
One of the major challenges we faced was the slab joints in the warehouse floor. After winning the project, we realised that the client's final layout did not account for these joints. To address this, we conducted another site visit to measure all slab joint dimensions accurately. Some of these joints clashed with the proposed racking layout, requiring adjustments to ensure the system's stability and functionality. Another challenge was the floor loadings. The warehouse floor could not support the maximum weight capacity initially required by the client. We worked closely with the client to find a compromise that met their needs while ensuring the safety and integrity of the racking system.
The Results
Despite the challenges, we successfully implemented the adjustable pallet racking system in the new warehouse. The final solution provided over 4000 pallet spaces and was designed to be easily adaptable for future changes. Our ability to overcome the challenges of slab joints and floor loadings ensured the client's operations could commence on schedule.
