Project brief
Drive-in pallet racking for Network Rail
Stamina Storage Systems, an approved Network Rail supplier designed and supplied a drive-in pallet racking system to store large cable drums at a Network Rail depot in Warrington.
The challenge
As an approved supplier of Network Rail, Stamina Storage Systems were approached to design a bespoke drive-in pallet racking system.
Network Rail required a robust storage system that could:
- Safely store large, heavy cable drums of varying diameters
- Increase storage density within a limited footprint
- Allow efficient forklift access for loading and retrieval
- Withstand demanding industrial use
- Maintain clear organisation and stock control
Traditional pallet racking would not provide the required storage density, and floor stacking created handling and safety concerns.
The solution
We specified and installed a bespoke drive-in racking system designed specifically for cable drum storage. Key elements of the solution included:
- Heavy-duty drive-in racking bays engineered for high load capacity
- Reinforced support rails suitable for large cable drums
- Optimised bay depths to maximise cube utilisation
- Clearly defined entry guides to assist forklift operators
- Protective features to minimise impact damage
Network Rail now benefits from a purpose-built storage solution that supports ongoing infrastructure operations while making far better use of available warehouse space.
The drive-in configuration allows forklifts to enter the racking lanes, significantly increasing storage density compared with conventional racking layouts.
